International Women’s Day is observed around the world on March 8. It is a day that has carried many meanings across time and place, including recognition, reflection, and attention to women’s lives and labour.

For some, the day is celebratory. For others, it is political, complicated, or deeply personal. And for many, it passes quietly.

I want to acknowledge International Women’s Day without flattening those experiences or prescribing how it should be observed.

Care, labour, and resilience often go unnoticed until they are absent. This day offers a moment to pause and recognise those contributions — in families, communities, and daily life.
