Purim is observed in Jewish communities as a holiday that brings together joy, storytelling, and remembrance. It is often marked through reading, gathering, generosity, and celebration.

The story at the heart of Purim carries themes of survival, reversal, and courage, and is traditionally met with humour, noise, and communal expression.

For some, Purim is exuberant and playful. For others, it is quieter or more reflective. There is no single way it is held.

I want to acknowledge Purim without assuming how it is observed or what it means in any one life.
